September is Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD)

Oct 13, 2020 | Stories

Welcome to the launch of Dr. Ann’s FASD Blog.

This month is a time to emphasize no amount of alcohol consumption is safe during pregnancy. If you could become pregnant or are pregnant, please do not drink alcohol. Your baby may be at risk for life-long brain damage.

The Hawaii Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Action Group https://fasdhawaii.org launches its first state-wide campaign as a nonprofit to create awareness of, advocate for, and initiate research on FASD in Hawaii. FASDs are under-diagnosed, and too many families, schools, health, and court systems struggle to understand the underlying causes and ways to address the behaviors of an individual affected by FASD.

Identifying affected individuals at a young age can change the life of that individual. Please contact us if you suspect situations of exposure to alcohol during pregnancy.
We may not have all the answers, but together we can create solutions!
There is hope.
